Question: What exactly makes a “good” blog vs. a “bad” one?

I’m about to get longwinded on a response to this one; the amount of characters necessary to answer this question will not fit in the space tumblr allows :O) lol. lets get something straight though; Tumblr (ok, I guess I can say like, 95% of tumblogs) are not the same as traditional blogs. That’s why I personally refer to them as tumblogs and not blogs. different beast. doesn’t count.
What makes a blog good is a voice. A personality. Enthusiasm. When someone is passionate about whatever it is they blog about, the readers can sense that. I think that’s the most important thing that draws people in.
Fancy pictures are cool too, not entirely necessary, but cool. As long as you have one picture per post. American attention spans are too short to not have at least that. One thing to make sure of is proper grammar. Or maybe not anymore since we are the auto correct generation. I can’t STAND reading a published anything n is typd lykkeee diss. Grammar doesn’t have to be perfect, because I like to imagine that my typed posts will translate to my readers as if I’m there talking to them. No one talks in MLA format, so I don’t blog that way.
Blogging about your day is okay I guess, but the types of blogs that grab my attention are blogs catered to my interests: craft, fashion, and music blogs. But I mean there’s blogs about literally anything and everything and you can bet there’s an audience for it. Once you find out what you’re passionate about, it makes blogging and finding your voice much easier.
I’ve given blogging maybe five or six attempts and after about eight years (going way back to my livejournal days) I think I finally got it. Granted I only have 1 follower and 3 comments after 2 months of my current blog, but I am SO PROUD of it and it’s like my baby. Even if I’m the only one who reads it (although my stats say otherwise so that’s exciting!) I’ll keep at it because I love it so much.
You can’t bash your blog and give up yet! You just have to find your niche. Your text posts on tumblr are the only ones I read because I can totally picture you telling me this story in person and your rants are engaging enough to hold my interest. Also, the majority of the people I follow don’t really post text…so…yeah. BUT STILL. You have a knack for it. You’d be a wonderful blogger and you should keep at it.
If you do decide to keep blogging (WHICH YOU BETTER MISS JOURNALISM MAJOR) I would suggest finding other blogs in your field of interest that inspire you. If you have more than one interest, that’s ok too. I’ve discovered that you don’t really have to have separate blogs for all of your channels of interests. Just pick one to focus on and sprinkle in the rest. People understand that people are multifaceted. Also, http://heartifb.com/ is a super helpful website to any blogger, not just fashion bloggers (even though that’s who it’s geared towards).

1) When was your first relationship/love/anything close?
My first boyfriend was when I was about 14 I think. He was a lovely boy and it lasted about two months. Turns out now he’s gay, so eventually we would’ve figured out it wouldn’t work anyway.

To be honest I’m not the type to just chill with people I don’t know personally. I get really shy and awkward.

I think weed should be legalized, especially since cigarettes are a thousand times worse. FUNFACT: Weed AKA hemp was used for many things like rope at the turn of the century. It was originally banned because the amount being smoked was interfering with the amount needed to manufacture rope. Nothing to do with it being a gateway drug or whatever nonsense they say now. HOWEVER I can’t STAND the smell. it’s nauseating.

crafting from my home studio with my own kiln, blogging and craft shows and basically my dream career in full swing. ALSO, I want a house.

I understand and speak a little spanish. I just finished up Chinese II so I can read and write and speak that too. Oh and does ubbi dubbi and gibberish count? I speak those quite fluently.
